Management needs both:

Hard data: facts and numbers generated by organisations

Soft data: non analytical information such as web based news portals

Threats and opportunities:

Continuous planning:

·         Organisation needs to monitor business process

·         Results lead to adjustments

·         Decision making from all levels

IS expert systems

·         Artificial intelligence: human intelligence simulation
